Schools in Sao Paulo

Post new topic

bloomboy

Hi folks, I just wanted to ask you has anyone any experiences of (free) state run schools for children here in Sao Paulo city centre ? Are the free state schools really as under resourced and as bad as the stories make them out to be? Surely there are one or two that are okay, no?  Thanks in advance.. JB

Private schools, as I've been told, are way much better than State Run Schools.  With the caveat, that the local school is not run by the city property tax collections.

In downtown, you can actually get a better deal on Schools run by the Sao Bento Monastery ( Mosteiro de Sao Bento ). They accomodate a number of children of emigres.    You child might pick up on Mandarin, Spanish, while at it.

Fancy schools with foreign certficates are , IMHO, a way to grab more from unsuspecting parents.   It's just another racket.
