Hello/Salam,

I'm currently considering coming to Marrakech for the winter months I thought I had a good friend who was going to stay with me ofte (since I don't speak Darja or fluent French and I am wheelchair bound) but I don't. I'm torn about making a decision I know Marrakech is home to many expats will it be impossible for me to manage without knowing the language?

Hi ,  not speaking frensh or darija , will make things a little bit difficult, not too many who speak english , if you want to communicate  with local ,

If you got  english expats  or local english speakers, that will make things easier.

You need someone here , you said your using wheelchair  , in your country that will not be the same experience here.

Hi,

I started writing a long reply and when I came back to re read your query, it got lost. So, I guess this will be shorter.
I would not consider it.  I live in Morocco, in the south, but I don’t think Marrakech is much better in some crucial ways.  For one thing, it’s not disability-compliant.  I don’t know where you live, but for em, coming from the States, I am aghast at the differences. Most elevators (if there is an elevator) won’t hold a person in a wheelchair. There are also usually at least a few steps/stairs to deal with.  In places where there are actually sidewalks,  most don’t have those cutouts to drive your wheelchair through.  These are just a couple of examples.
If you speak some French, you might be able to get by, as long as you already have a place to stay, transportation, etc.  You can get by at the grocery store, most likely, but it would be difficult at a bank, say, or anything where you need a clear understanding of things.
I am not trying to discourage you from coming for a visit, but please please try to find someone who can come with you. I think you would enjoy it much more.

Shukran to everyone who is welcoming me. I'm not decided if a stay is best for me. I am looking for someone to stay with me most of the time as I think this is highly suggested.

I'm currently looking for help, if you're interested in getting to know me and are able to spend 90 days in Marrakech please message me.

Hello .it will be a good idea to find a moroccan maid.yhey do not ask mich and she will help ypi a lot and even teach you farija .good luck

JIMMY BOND

i do think you need a friend to be with you as Morocco can be difficult alone.
Your well being and security are paramount and
If strangers offer to assist you you are never sure of their intentions.
