Safety in Dublin

Post new topic

Hi, I'll maybe move to Dublin and I need to know Dubliners' opinion when it comes to safety of the city.

Well, I have read some opinions on internet from people saying that Dublin has a high rate of crime for a small city like this one... But on the other hand, I have also seen many people saying it is generally very safe.

So, based on own your experience, would you say it is a safe city or not? If so, do you think Grand Canal Dock is a good area?

Thanks.

P.S: Here is the site when I found about the crime rate in Dublin: www.numbeo.com/crime/in/Dublin

Dublin has a population of 1.361 million, so I would not say its small, but if you compare it to London with a population of 13 million then its it is smaller. :D

Wait... 1.361 million? According to Wikipedia, Dublin has 554,554 (that's lower than other european cities where there's lower crime rate according to statistics on internet. For example, Amsterdam, Munich or Copenaghen)

I think you're confusing the population of the urban area with the population of the city.

Ok sorry for posting twice... I have been doing some research and I have found this website about crimes in Dublin: irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/crime/, the website is officially Irish. I have seen many crimes that happened during this month, this would be somewhat normal for a huge city like London, Paris or even Madrid but Dublin is not that big... So, as I dislike what I'm seeing in the Irish news, better if I move to Barcelona since I think I would have it harder to find an IT job in other EU countries.

I wanted to move to an English speaking country to improve my English, UK would be also an option, but now it's leaving the EU soon, so I don't know how easy will be to move there and Cork/other Irish cities are too small for me as I prefer "large" cities.

Sorry if I'm being too dramatic about this, but safety is very important to me and if Dublin is that unsafe, then I'm not moving there. Barcelona is also considered unsafe but I know the city, I have been there many times and never happened something to me.

I think this wiöö explain what you are looking for this LINK will take you there.

Dublin is relatively safe but like all cities, there are areas that you avoid.
