Change of job

hello, can you change your job once already starting your occupational permit?

Hi Emma,

I believe should not be a problem as the conditions to be fulfilled remain the same:

Professional
A professional should earn a monthly basic salary exceeding MUR 60,000. As for professionals in the ICT Sector, the monthly basic salary should exceed MUR 30,000.

Self-Employed
A Self-Employed should make an initial transfer of USD 35,000 or its equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency to his/her local bank account in Mauritius. The business activity should generate an annual income exceeding MUR 600,000 in the first 2 years and MUR 1,200,000 as from the third year.

Hello,

You Occupation Permit is attached to your job profile which is itself attached to your employer here in Mauritius.

Therefore, I would say if you are switching positions within the same company, then your current employer is liable to do the necessary to maintain the status of your Occupation Permit.

Moving to another job in a new company is quite different in the sense that you will need a new OP sponsored by your new employer.

Thank tou

Your previous employer should de-register your Occupation Permit and provide a no-objection letter to allow you to apply for a new Occupation Permit. Else, you will need to leave the country, re-enter on business visa and then apply for the new permit.
