Hi,
I'm looking to buy a villa in Spain. Are there any pitfalls or legal problems I should be aware of?

I'm also considering buying land and building on it but am worried about getting planning permission. Has anybody here gone down that route or maybe knows a good site to buy land with planning?

Any help much appreciated!

The main pitfall here can be buying illegal property - much has been built without legal planning permission and this is a nightmare because you cannot have the water and elec services connected.

Unless you know some (preferably a lot) Spanish buying land and then building is very frought - there are many rules and regulations which are constantly changing

To be honest there is such a glut of property here at the minute already built why bother?
