Time required to complete MM2H requirements to get social pass

Hello,

Does anyone know how long it takes once land in KL to complete all formalities to get social pass (10 year visa), i.e., medical test, surety bond, medical insurance, car import authorization, etc.

Thanks everyone

You have to do the things yourself, once you have the approval letter (which you MUST bring with you). The approval letter is valid for only 6 months.

So it's up to you how long it takes before you are ready to go to Putrajaya to get the visa endorsed. If you are using an Agent, they can help you. The medical, insurance, FD (if required), Bond can be done within 2 days.

The car import is done online. But only people with approvals in 2017 can now buy a duty-free car or import. The rules changed. You can read the rules at the MM2H government website

http://mm2h.gov.my/index.php/en/benefit … port-a-car

You can also at the above link read about the process, if your approval was between Jan-Dec 2017. People holding those approvals have until 31 December 2018 to complete vehicle-related matters.

Thanks for the information.

I have the approval letter and currently my employer in Saudi Arabia provide medical insurance for the whole family. Do i need to take the medical insurance again or this would be sufficient.

Due to limited holidays, I am worried if the process to get the social pass take longer than expected. I do not have an agent as I applied directly. I applied last year August (2017) but approval letter I received was in April/2018.

I need to understand the entire process of medical test, submission, surety bond, etc.

Thanks for your help!!

If you have medical insurance (for all applicants), that can be submitted. You would need to show your current policy and receipt for payment. But you can check this by emailing the MM2H website helpdesk. They may want a letter from the insurer as it's a work-based policy if you don't have a policy document mentioning your name.

To get the medical you just (all) go to a clinic, medical centre or GP for the physical examination. The results are usually ready the same day or next.

The security bond form has to be completed by you and can be hand carried to a tax office (LHDN) to get the required duty stamp. See Notes at http://www.mm2h.gov.my/index.php/en/app … ct-with-us

"For Approved participants:
Only main applicant must submit the security bond.

The Security Bond can be in the form of cash, bank draft or money order, made payable to the "KETUA PENGARAH IMIGRESEN MALAYSIA ". The Security Bond must be stamped (RM 10.00) by The Stamping Office at the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia."

Once you have the documents listed on the approval letter, you take originals and number of copies required with you to Putrajaya.

The Fixed Deposit has to be opened in a bank in Malaysia. They provide a deposit certificate which you need to take to Putrajaya plus one copy I think (the checklist has details). It just takes a couple of hours to get the FD opened at your choice of bank.

Basically, you just keep showing  your approval letter whenever doing any transaction related to MM2H. Keep receipts always.

You need to plan how to move money into Malaysia to set up the FD. Using an international bank with a branch in Malaysia can be the answer e.g. foreign currency can be transferred and then exchanged into a Malaysian Ringgit current account. From this the FD amount is withdrawn and set aside.

You can get an e-visa online within 48 hrs of applying

https://www.windowmalaysia.my/evisa/FAQ … ersion=2.7

Their portal is at https://www.windowmalaysia.my/evisa/evisa.jsp

Your visit will go smoothly if you sort out how to move money for the FD and make a detailed plan in advance of arriving of where you need to go e.g. select bank, clinic, etc.

Do remember that the MM2H social pass follows the validity of your passport.

So it will have to be transferred (called an extension) when you change passport.

http://mm2h.gov.my/index.php/en/apply-n … -extension

Plan accordingly. The extension requires an in-person application made earliest 3 months before MM2H pass interim expiry date e.g. issued for 4 years if passport is only valid for 4 years (with old and new passports to be submitted).

Thanks for your detailed response.

Do I need to complete the medical test/check in Malaysia or I can get it done abroad and take all my medical test report along with attested form by a physician here.

Also, for Surety Bond, do I need to take required cash with me to be paid to relevant authorities.

Thanks

The medical has to be done in Malaysia. The Bond is paid at the LHDN tax office.

Thanks for the reply

The medical is just a basic physical examination.
