Procuring an iKAD for Expats

Hi All,

Expats often miss to obtain their iKAD post getting their work permit. iKAD is so handy that you don't have to carry your passport or permit everywhere in Malaysia.

How to obtain?

- In Putrajaya, visit the Jabatan Imigresen office
- Submit a copy of your passport by filling out the form
- Your iKAD is ready for  collection over the next working day
- Time to avoid will be 12 to 2PM
- One representative can collect for many people

Benefits:
MyKAD benefits applicable for all iKAD holders

Don't wait to get your iKAD immediately!

Cheers!

Is this available for MM2H or other Long-Term Visitor Pass Holders, too?

No longer issued to Peninsular Malaysia MM2H holders.

No, only for PR and work permit holders!

What are the benefits of iKAD?

You get all MyKAD benefits (which are applicable for local Malaysians)

- Reduced entry fee to all places including Petronas Tower and KL Tower
- Within Malaysia, you can use the iKAD as ID card instead of carrying a passport every where
- iKAD gives equal rights as local Malaysian get
- This card indicates that's you're paying taxes to the Malaysian Government

Hello, Is that iKAD available for all employment pass categories? Such as a (Category I, Category II, Category III) ?
Thanks

Yes applicable for EP holders.

Thank you very much for the info.
Can you explain bit briefly the steps involved? is there any letter from company required?
or just passport and application form?

Hi , Thank you for your information. I just have a couple questions.
1. Can IKAD be requested for dependent (wife) ?
2. Till what time is can I go and collect my IKAD which is already ready for collection ?

Hi all,
Recently I got the i-kad. Hence, I will share information I know,

1. if we are visiting immigration office in person, only need to submit Application form, Copy of passport, Copy of Current work permit
2. If submit today, can collect next day. Collection is after 3 PM
3. Dependent pass can't get i-kad yet.

Is there any fees to get I kad?

Hi Simon,
Thank you for your information about the IKAD. I just want to confirm on the benefits part. So from what I understand is that , I get to take the normal local tickets in public places instead of the expensive foreigner tickets. I need to confirm on this one because , I went to Malacca Museum last Saturday and they said they wouldn't accept IKAD and forced me to buy a foreigner ticket. The ticket rate is not so much only 5 ringgits difference , How ever I need to know if that is the case for other public places as well ?

Hi,
I stay in petaling jaya. I think 'Immigration Office Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur' at  Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, Taman Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur is the nearest.

Can i go there or should i go only to Putrajaya office?

Is there a  way to apply it online. I am not finding any details to apply online in
http://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/

Please share details, If any.

Hi,

Do we have to go specifically to Putrajaya immigration? Are there any other ways? Online or Agent?

Thanks

Hi Gravitas,

Can we go to any immigration office? Or specifically Putrajaya?

Thanks
Ashwani

Expats can only get I-kad (expat card) from Putrajaya immigration.
For me it hardly took 5 mins to apply and next day I just went and received the card. Expat division is separate and there is hardly any waiting or queue. All you need is passport and EP photocopies.

Can Dependent Pass holders also get i-kad ?

The validity date is upto our VISA validity right?
What is the charges for applying?

I have checked with an Agent, he said RM 212 / person

You are right about validity. There are no charges for expat card.

Hi,

Do we have this form online or do we get it only once we go to the counter.

Thanks
R

Hi Rupa,

Expat card form will be given at the counter.

Regards,
Ash

Thanks Ash.

Hi

Just want to check can i apply for ikad if got spouse visa and work permit.
I went to seremban immegration they said to check at putrajaya.
Also can help what are the charges for Ikad.

Thanks in advance

Hi, if the EP is issued by MDEC can the expat still go direct to Immigration Putrajaya to get the I-Kad?

For professional only (Work Permit):
Now the rules has been changed. If you and your dependents do live in Malaysia, then only one person (who has work permit) can get the i-KAD. Now immigration doesn't provide i-KAD for dependents and you have to carry your passport where ever you go for make yourself safe.

This is as on 26th March 2019

No, You cannot. The person who has hold Work permit will get the i-KAD

Thank you sir

hi

How much is the cost involved for ikad application? I heard its free of charge.
is there any authorization letter from the company required to apply?
