Hello, I am a divorced woman with 1 child. I live in Miami for over 5 years. I have full custody of my child. The father is non exsitant in the child life and hasn't paid child support in many years. I am traveling to Brazil in the summer and taking my child. Will I have a problem coming back to the USA? I heard its difficult to exit the country with the child in this situation. Will I have a problem or not and what are my options.
Thank you very much

I would think that if you travel with certified custody paperwork and proper documents for your child you should be ok.  You might want to contact the Brazilian consulate to see if they have additional requirements.

For a married couple, one parent traveling alone needs permission from the other parent which is now attached in the child's passport now. Costs R$80 and no expiration.

You are in a unique situation, I would get two opinions on this one. Call two different consulates and visit one if able. Maybe with custody paperwork you can get the permission put in child's passport.
