550 hours norwegian course and 50 hours social course.

Bhebhe01

Hello,

Is't really obligatory to complete 550 hours norwegian course and the 50 hours social study? Before when I was an aupair I have studied for 1 semester which is for 130 hours after that I stop. Now I am already 2 years here in Norway and I got married already. I got approved for a family reunification visa  and my temporary permit is valid only for 1 year. I am planning to study norwegian course next year. My question is on December 2017 I will be living in total of 3 years here in norway. Am i qualified already to apply for permanent resident permit?  They said that I have to finish the required courses before I apply for permanent.

I know that if I take day shift course i can easily finish the required hours . But I am planning to find a work and planning to take night shift course. If I take the night course theres no way for me to complete the 600 required hours in 1 year.

If ever i havent able to finish the 600 hours course by next year is't possible for me to apply for the renewal of my family reunification visa?  Can I apply for permanent visa anytime? Or automatically if someone live for 3 years already she/he should apply the next visa for permanent?

Anyone can advice me what the best thing to do? Should I just enroll day course for me to finish early or a night course that will take long time?

Thanks everyone.

It is up to you to apply for PR or not.

You can just renew your current visa type,

Bhebhe01

Ok thanks alot sir. I decided to just take day course so that I will easily be finish with the required hours. ☺

Good work : )

Regarding if you are qualified for PR, what was the status of your first 2 years, which visa type did you have ? and how many days have you traveled outside Norway for personal purposes since you started living in Norway ?

Bhebhe01

I was an aupair before for 2 years and I have ask someone she told me that the 2 years living here as aupair is not counted. I should live here with the same visa that im using now which is family reunification visa for spouse. So still not possible for me to appþy for permanent next year even that supposed  to be my 3 years living here in norway😅

I just travel for vacation but never stay longer outside norway.

If you take norskprøve and pass at least A2 it's automatic you don't need to complete the 550 hours.

this is stated at the UDI page: Courses in the Norwegian language for people applying for a permanent residence permit

it is said there:

If your first residence permit forming the basis for a permanent residence permit was granted on 1 January 2012 or later, you must either

#have completed 550 hours of approved courses in the Norwegian language and 50 hours of courses in social studies, or

#have passed an oral and written Norwegian test at a minimum of level A2, or

#be able to document that the municipality (kommune) has granted you an exemption to the requirement for Norwegian courses, for example because you have "adequate" knowledge of Norwegian or Sami, are seriously or chronically ill, or there are other weighty (important and serious) reasons why you cannot complete the tuition (please hand in a confirmation from the municipality).

unfortunately this is correct

That type of visa is not considered for PR,

Examples of residence permits that normally form a basis for a permanent residence permit:

residence permits for skilled workers
most types of family immigration permits
protection (asylum)
residence on grounds of strong humanitarian considerations (unless you have been granted a limited permit)

Then you need to have 3 years in total with one of the above types of visas, but you can renew your family visa and just by time you will obtain your PR,

and there are some requirements regarding number of days you spent outside Norway,

In addition there is a small update which can make things a bit complicated, but not very

From 16th of December 2016 any PR applicant must pass Norwegian language oral test with A1.

Bhebhe01

åh wow 😅 I thought I really have to finish the 550 hours in norwegian and 50 hours in social study plus I have to pass the oral and written exam for A1.

So it means even I actually didn't finish the required hours and I have pass the A2 automatically I can apply already for permanent?  ☺

Is't  A2 exam is difficult?  Should I take A1 exam first or I can jump to A2 exam immediately without taking A1 exam?

Bhebhe01

Ok sir thanks alot for all the informations ☺ very helpful ☺

Some told me that I should pass oral and written exam on level A1.
But some told me I should pass A2 😅 a bit confusing.

Bhebhe01

Thanks alot stephy ☺😊

Thanks for all the updates ☺ I should start reading and always be updated with the udi rules because seems like every year they change their rules 😅

Thanks again ☺

You welcome Bhebhe01

A1 is now the minimum mandatory level to be qualified for PR, then you have to finish all the required hours as well.

A2 and higher is sufficient to replace the remaining study hours,

Hope it is more clear now

Salamat : )

fornight

If you pass norskprøve 2 (A2 plus B1),  then you can apply PR without the required hours.   A1  test is norskprøve 1.  Once you pass norskprøve 2, it automatically means you pass Norskprøve 1.

As for whether norskprøve 2 is difficult or not,  I was told that the recent test format has been changed.   Needs more input before deciding whether it is difficult or not.   There are sample test papers in vox website

Bhebhe01

Thanks alot ☺ I clearly understand it now ☺

God jul ☺
