Urgent advice sought Gifts to vietnam

My son is getting married to Vietnamese woman in Vietnam. I want to send family heirloom jewelry with him to give to his new bride. She would like to immigrate to US as soon as possible. Can he bring jewelry into Vietnam AND can she bring it to US later? Should I keep it in US until she arrives here?
