Sports in Scotland

Hello everyone,

The Olympic Games are now just a few days away and we would like to talk about sports.

What sports are the most popular and/or unusual in Scotland?

Are sports facilities easily accessible there? Where and how can one find sports clubs in the region?

Are there sports events regularly held in the country?

And you? What is your favourite sport? Which one(s) do you practice in Scotland?

Thank you in advance,

Priscilla

Would you mind disclosing what our information is being used for? I can't see anywhere where the forums and topics are displayed for our own benefit. It would be nice to see what other people have to say on these forums but the information seems to just disappear, are you selling it?

Hi Melfrommel,

These general topics are regularly launched by the expat.com team so that expats may share their experience. This will benefit expats to be who are preparing their expatriation project or those already in the country.

Since you have not seen any information posted on a couple of threads, it only means that there has been no feedback on the thread. Information are not collected in private or removed as we are on a free public forum where members are invited to share.

If you wish to be the first to share your experience on this topic, you are most welcomed to do so and it will be highly appreciated. Maybe it will encourage other members to participate as well.

All the best,
Bhavna

The Scottish are well known for their excellence in football and rugby. But to see the real Scottish sports, fun and culture then the best is to visit the Scottish Highland Games, where they practice such events as caber tossing, tug-o-war and hammer throwing. The Scottish Highland Games are held between May through September right across Scotland. In addition to sports, you'll get to see bagpipes and highland dancing and many other events.

What about field hockey?...We play hockey here in Oz and my kids are keen to keep their skills up when we move over...any standout teams we should jump on board when we get there...:)
