Moving to Turkey with your family

Hello everybody,

When settling abroad with your spouse and children, the expatriation process requires an extensive preparation.

What are the considerations to take into account when moving to Turkey with your family? What challenges have you faced? How did your children adapt to their new environment?

What is your recipe for a successful family expatriation in Turkey?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Bhavna

Our experience is that we came without children. As well, we moved to bustling Istanbul which has possibly 25% of all of Turkey's population.

Most important is to not let the city overwhelm you. While the city is huge and crowded, there are wonderful places to discover, and you can feel as though you have escaped the crowd. Riding the ferries can be a time of peace. Guard yourself against discouragement that can come while crossing-cultures (you may already realize that this is normal when crossing over into any culture), and enjoy the wonders and beauty of Istanbul and Turkey.
