Wanting to establish business in Buenaventura Colombia

I am interested in moving to Buenaventura, Colombia but I need a source of income to sustain myself. My goal is to start a business there supplying hair products, makeup, pearls, purses, clothing, etc. I am wondering what my first step is. Do I need to be a citizen, do I need a business visa, can the government at anytime take the business away, can I have a car there? All of these questions need to be answered before I begin to set myself up. After visiting here, I notice a need for these items and I totally enjoy the environment and culture. Please advise me on what are the steps I need to take to make this happen. I feel very comfortable here and the people make me feel at home.

Hi Jan1mra! :) I have moved your topic on the Colombia forum.

Maybe you should contact the Embassy of Colombia for more info :

I hope this helps and hope that other members will be able to advice you.
I wish you good luck

Christine, thanks a million. The site you recommended was very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to respond and for putting this expat site together. I am enjoying myself very much out here learning about other cultures. All of the pictures posted all over the world are great. I will be travelling back to Bogota, Cali and Buenaventura on Monday November 22nd.

Cheers,

Mary Armstrong
