Hi everyone,
living in Penang now for 4 month I wonder what is the best way to communicate with back home in Europe. Beside the known utilities whatsapp and skype where I depend that the person I want to reach is online that very moment I want to talk with them.
Tried the cheaper service of Hotlink IDD 132 but I was not very happy with the quality and honestly the costs are still pretty high. What are you guys using?

I use Skype all the time. With smart phones you can set Skype upon them so calls are then free.
Skype costs are low even when you call a mobile phone or landline not hooked up to Skype.
Fore example If I am back in Australia it cost $1.10 a minute to call to Laos on my mobile or landline. The same call through Skype is 13 cents so it is a no brainer for me.
