My wife is from Dom Rep and came to Miami on fiance visa and we then married; been married 5 yrs.  What are the advantages for me getting citizenship in Dom Rep compared to just redidencia? Also, are there disadvantages such as a small teacher state pension maybe getting taxed if I become citizen there? Or other income becoming taxed? We plan on living there well over half the year and hopefully within 3 to 4 yrs. Any other advantages and disadvantages just want to know. Thank....Pete M.

First and foremost it is pretty easy and fairly inexpensive to get compared to residencia.  With citizenship you come and go as you like and it is permanent.  With residencia you need to keep renewing and paying!

I do not believe either has a different impact on your  pension income or tax!   Both give you the right to work here if you choose.

I  would go straight to citizenship!

Don't see a down side to citizenship.  Go for it
