Business visa for Brazil

Post new topic

clorimer

Hi there,

I have a sole proprietorship and am going to apply for the business visa. I see that the main difference between a tourist visa and the business visa is the Business Cover Letter, and am just wondering if you have any information or tips about writing this as a self-employed person. I would write the letter on my company letter head.

Any idea about how easy or difficult the business is to get for Brazil?

It also says we need to list a host company. Would this be alright if it was a university?

I appreciate any help, thanks!

Hello clorimer,

I am not personally familiar with much about the VITEM-II Business Visa, but I can certainly ask for more information from my immigrations lawyer buddy who lives here in Macaé.

I really don't know if as a sole proprietor you are able to provide the Original Notarized Business Letter or not, but he certainly should know.

If you're not in a great rush I'll try and contact him during the beginning of next week and get back to you.

I don't know exactly where in the US you are, but here is a link to the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Houston TX with the information on the VITEM-II Business Visa and the requirements if you don't already have it:

http://houston.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/v … SS%20VISA?

You will need to apply for the visa at the Consulado that has jurisdiction over the city where you reside and operate your business. There are several which are located in:

New York, Boston, Washington DC, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. For addresses and telephone numbers see the link below:

Thanks so much for this reply; I can certainly wait for more information until you talk to your lawyer buddy. I would apply for the visa in Los Angeles, it's the consulate closest to San Diego, CA (where I reside and operate my business).

Also: I found this on another site (http://novayork.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/ … s_visa.xml), "if the applicant is self-employed, an additional letter will be required from his/her bank, containing financial references". Perhaps your contact can clarify what sort of "financial references" I'd need?

Finally, would you also ask him about the host affiliation and if this can be a university or if it must be a business?

I really appreciate it! I'll wait for your response.
