Hello,

Can somebody tell me what is the best way to search for a room to rent in Malta? I am planning to go to Malta in March. Are there some websites that I can use or else?

Thanks in advance!

PM'd you.

Hi PMgirl,

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

You can also post an advert in the Rooms for rent in Malta section.

Thank you,
Christine

thank you very much for your reply!
But are there any websites that post such information? For example in Canada there are such sites, and I thought that Malta could also have some?

ricky

Hi PMgirl,

as far as I'm aware the 'Housing' section of this forum is one of the best to find a room in a shared flat in Malta.

You can also follow the offers on Maltapark:

I don't know of any website that posts flat-share options.

Cheers
Ricky

What area are you looking in? Do you want club life or quiet life?
Do you want near Valletta or near any educational places?

PMgirl

I think I will need some time to get to know Malta, but I prefer quiet life for sure:)

Then you will not want the usual areas on the east of the mainland then.
Are you going to have to work?
Are you looking to becoming a resident?
I ask because it is all relevant information we need to be able to help you.
If you can elaborate on your plans and preferences then we can do a better job :)

Yes, I will have to work and looking to become a resident. In case you can give me some advice where are the best areas to look for a room I will be very grateful!
Thank you in advance!

I guess where you will live will depend upon where you work and how you would commute if necessary. I suggest you contact the person(s) I pm'd you the details of. I am sure they can help, especially perhaps with temporary accommodation, while you look for work.
What type of work? An indication of that would also help identify areas to look around.
Do you have a structured plan outlining what you want to do and when?
Do you know Malta?
If you have no previous experience or knowledge of Malta then why Malta?
I cannot over emphasise the importance of a plan and acquiring knowledge of the islands.
You will find it VERY different from Canada and it is not all sun and sea, especially when it comes to settling here.

Well, the reason why I want to visit Malta it mostly the fact that I am searching for something completely different from Canada. I would like to work and travel for a while and I think this is a very good way to get to know new places.
As I already have some expat experience I can only agree with you that a structured plan will be helpful, and I am happy that I found this web site, and I am grateful for your help!

that's the going price around there, crazy rip off for uni students from abroad.

doloresrami

Swatar is expensive yes it is close to university and the hospital and the owners take a good opportunity to high price their property.
