I believe ONTC runs a regular bus service from the Ruwi Bus Station, alternatively you could also try your luck at the Rusayl Bus Station.... There are regular daily trips to the interiors.

We do have Burj Al Sahwa Station, It's in seeb area.
which can take you to your Sohar. but i suggest to use a private Taxi. it's much faster and take's you direct to your destination..instate of stopping in every station
