Good ophthalmologist in Riyadh

I need to check my eyesight and my son's  but want some good eye specialist to do it. Also after getting the number, I want our glasses to be made by some real good technician ( or whatever he is called who makes the glasses and fixes lense). My past experience with the eye specialists and tchnicians is not so good, because of which myself and my son's vision is deteriorating day by day. Please suggest. Thanks

Eye specialists rarely go wrong because of availbility of the cutting edge equipment. But yes, sometimes there are exceptions.

1- There is an eye hospital right across Riyadh Gallery Mall on Malik Fahad service road.
2- The eye clinic besides the consulting clinics (Mekkah reputed) is well reputed.
3- There are known clinics like Barakat/Maghrabi.

My suggestion is to go to ALL and get 1st, 2nd and 3rd prescription. If done correctly all three results must match. (That's mainly for your satisfation :))

Once you get your glasses, just take it to any optics dealing showroom and ask him to produce the optical card against it. This card must match your prescription card.

Thanks a lot. No. 2 is not clear to me though I may catch the first one. No 3 are ok but with exceptions, largely I have been dissatisfied with them. Rest your suggestion is wonderful, I also had the same in my mind but wasn't able to get the few good ones from where I can get my eyesight checked. You didn't tell about technicians, getting it cross cheques is ok, but still there should be some good guy to fix it. Why I fear most is  cuz I have a cylinderical degree, that if slightly misfit, ...will spoil the vision...requires precision in real sense.

There was a typo in line#2. Read it as:

2- The eye clinic besides the consulting clinics (Mekkah Road) is well reputed.

About the technicians, I wouldn't give any preference to them. Now glasses are assembled in the back-end workshops. I insist that the safest way is to let someone reverse engineer the assembled glasses into the card that much match the original prescription.

I am not aware of these consulting clinics at mekkah rd. if you could be little specific about exact location. You mean beside these consulting clinics at makak rd, there is some good eye clinic !

Yes, that's what I meant. Forgive me for being so good at forgetting names :(

Hsni,

I will suggest you to go & see Dr. Mansoor Alam Farooqui. He is one of the finest ophthalmologists in Riyadh city & he works in Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital Khurais Road located after Honda Cars Showroom & before Jarir Bookstore on Khurais road.

I had a good experience at Sulaiman Habib Olaya, Dr. Laila Mohanna, was quite a professional .

for making the glasses made, there is a shop, can't recall the name (starts with 'OP') on Street between Mousa bin Nusair & Tahlia St. I am attaching the coordinates for you (24.702356, 46.691616) . The owner is Rabiah is mostly at the shop, a very talented young Saudi guy.

The good thing about this shop is that they have a technician (not salesman), from Pakistan, that takes the glasses to the factory for preparation and he can give good advice on the type of lens and other special arrangements if needed.

Kindly help me out for my 5 years daughter has issues with site, any good doctor other then Suliman Habib (not covered).

Thanks

I would say that all the above suggestions made by members are very valid.

With computerized readings it is harder to make mistakes. So best way is to take two prescriptions from different docs and if same then goto optics. IMHO, choosing a doc is important only in case of diseases or complications.

For optics, its again the same story that the actual glasses are made in factory rather than same shops. Testing them after receiving for Reverse readings is the best option.

My 2 cents...

There is a great doctor at Consulting Clinics in Khurais Rd after SMC.
Im not able to recall his name but he sits on the first floor after you get out of the lift walk a bit straight and he is on the left side. If I recall the name, I'll write here. Great experienced doctor. One of the best I've met in Riyadh

Someone asked the location of the Consulting Clinics in Riyadh. You can find it on Google Maps following this link:

Thanks Duhduh,

I will be but is it covered in insurance?

I have query related to the previous discussion, I got two different prescriptions for my daughter from two different Hospitals. I selected the one by "MAGHARABI" Hospital. I got Glasses, my daughter using from 2 weeks but Still she has trouble writing Alphabets (Writes too big or too small).
How to Check the Glasses are as per Prescription? and should we go for another doctor?
