I am moving to punta cana within the next two months but would like to bring my dogs.
Does anyone know whether there are places i can rent that will accept pets or is this a problem

Bob K

Renting with pets can be a problem.  Many places especially condos restrict pets or don't allow pets for renters (as is the case in or condo that we rent out in Cabarete). However if you look hard enough you will find someplaces that do allow dogs, especially small dogs.

Thanks for your help.. I will try and look for a villa type property as apartments and condos will be hard with dogs... Really dont know where i can leave the dogs in england as had them for 8 years..

Thanks again

Good luck,

Hi there!

we are in Santo Domingo with our Rottweiler dog that we brought with us. When looking for a place to rent we found that with houses a dog wasn't a problem. Some apartment buildings though had a no pet policy.

You moved with a rottie? Wow that is brave it is like moving a small horse.  We got our Rottie here as a 8 week pup.  Now 18 months later he is tipping the scales at 135 pounds and i think still growing.  It is like having a horse in the house.

:) Yes, it is a bit like moving a pony over the ocean! But it went quite smoothly. We moved here only last year and he was already an adult... Apart from paying for his ticket a lot more than I paid for mine (!) it was quite easy and worth it of course!
Good luck with your "pup"!

Hi,

I was in Punta Cana in April.  There were quite a few condos for rent in Bavaro/Cortecito that allow dogs. Most of them take dogs under 20 pounds.  Did see a few that did not have a weight limit.
