Hello All

Does anyone have any information for me on getting married in Berlin, Germany?

I am a South African & I have met the love of my life.  He is a German & resides in Berlin.  We got engaged & he asked me to move to Germany.  There are only 2 ways to get into Germany, either by employment or by marrige.  I have applied for several jobs in Germany but no luck so far.  We want to get marriend anyways, so we are deciding to do it earlier!!

What are the laws, rules, regulations to getting married in Germany as an / ex South Afican?  Does anybody have any advise of has anyone been through the same experience?  I would love it if you could share your information & experiences with me as the Embassy does not uncover all the requirements!

Thank you in advance,
Sharlene

He should ask at his local "Standesamt" (marriage registry) for the procedure and documents needed.
As discussed on this forum before, to marry a (non-EU) foreigner in Germany is a complicated (takes many months) and costly (fees for official translations - everything must be in German!) affair, so many opt to marry elsewhere.
Registering an existing marriage from abroad is much easier in comparison.
