Tenant Rights?

Hi all,

Please feel free to tell me I'm nuts or recommend a legal professional to assist.

New to NL, having moved from UK.

Seems our landlord is a bit overbearing. The owner is requesting copies of the keys to common areas from us, even though we deal through an agent.

So they are asking us to submit photos of the keys to the apartment building so they can copy them, which would give the owner unchecked access to common areas which look straight in to our apartment.

Is this normal? I feel it affects our 'quiet enjoyment' of the property if the owner/landlord is always in the common areas. But not sure if that 'quiet enjoyment' concept exists here?

Any constructive ideas on how to handle the situation are welcome.

Thanks,

IN

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

This link may help you work out what your and the landlord's rights are.  I recall that the landlord does have the right of access in the event of an emergency.

I wish you the best of luck in dealing with this.

I hope this helps.
