Oh that's such a lovely idea!  We're hoping to move from London to Lagoa de Óbidos area next September - and I think I'll follow your example.  Maybe arrange a weekly / monthly meeting for coffee / lunch in my area.  Hope you meet many pleasant people. 🙂
