Visa & Tax Advice

Hi

Were a family in UK who are moving to Catalonia area - likely Calogne area - this summer.

We will move to live full time and buy a property for us as a couple plus our youngest aged 16, who will do online A levels then likely Spanish university. Our eldest will stay in UK to attend university.

Seems were best doing this via the non lucrative visa route but could do with good visa and tax advice without breaking the bank and local to the area?

Appreciate any advice how others have done this and who they used to help them?

The NLV is a very popular option and could be ideal for you if (a) you have passive income (rents, dividends, pensions) and (b) you don't want/need to work (or you're willing to sneakily work remotely).

You can easily find immigration attorneys and gestors who can help you with the NLV or other residence applications (and it shouldn't be too costly). But all the information is online, and it's pretty straightforward to do it yourself (perhaps with a translator at immigration appointments if your Spanish isn't very good). The NLV official info is here:

You can try for separate and independent visa/residence permits, but usually you get one for the main applicant, then do "family reunification" for spouse and minor children. This option is here:

Separately, Catalonia is a great area, lots of lovely places. My favourite is Barcelona, but it's rather expensive these days.

Good luck!
