Is there something like a PO Box?

Where I live (in rural Colonia) we do not have mail boxes or PO boxes.  But if the sender puts my phone number and addresses it to my name c/o the local post office the post office will send me a text message and I can pick it up ...  Don´t know whether this works in more metropolitan areas. 

I was in the post office the day and saw banks of what looked every bit like post office boxes.
