Best city to live in for a retiree

Digitarius

I am Anthony and have decided I want to move to Peru for a year or more .  I have traveled around LATAM  always wanted to go to Peru and  Brazil and since they border each other I'll start in Peru.  Any tips and advice would be welcomed.  Such as, best city to live in for a retiree not into night life and on a modest budget of about 1100 a month U.S.

Hi.  Digi.  San Isidro and Miraflores are awesome.  I live in miraflores.   You will have dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance, safe neighborhoods and quiet.  Not sure why I have not been getting emails for posts from the forum lately.     Arequipa is a great place and I enjoy it to. Cayma is good there.

There is no one best city to retire in, pretty much every country. You have to visit different cities of interest to you and spend time in each, then you can make your own educated decision. What works for you doesn't necessarily work for anybody else. And, at the amount you say you have per month, that's pushing the bottom limit, especially in any of the bigger cities. In a small pueblo, it's possible.

Thanks for the reply.  I am definitely coming but how do I find a place to live there?  Message me if you have time please. @trentgh7

Can you private message me please.  I can't seem to send messages@trentgh7

In many South American countries often the best way to find a place to live is "boots on the ground" - walk around and look for signs in the windows, "Se alquila" or "En arriendo" with a phone number.  You can also offer a finders fee to security personnel for a complex, if you end up renting/buying something they find for you.

You can also try Locanto for various cities in Perú:

Look under Inmobiliaria then click on Departamentos or Casas or Habitaciones for apartments, houses, or rooms, respectively.  Click on a city of interest to get local listings.

Hi @Digitarius. I would tend to agree with OsageArcher.  looking around is very easy to find places.
