Standard of living in Peru

Like pretty much everywhere (maybe not Antarctica), your standard of living depends on how many $$$benjamins you can bring to the table...or in Perú's case, the nuevo Sol (symbol PEN). The Sol is currently trading at about 3.76 Sol to 1 USD. Perú has a minimum monthly salary of under $300 USD so you can assume that much and perhaps most of the population subsists on that amount or less. It is a poor country with stark contrasts between the few rich and the numerous poor, but with a growing middle class (57% of Peruvians now self-identify as being middle-class, see https://www.americasquarterly.org/fullt … dle-class/ ).

Perhaps other Nigerians who live in Perú could shed more light on living conditions in Perú for Nigerians. Depending on the skills you bring to the marketplace it could be better, or worse, than where you are now. And if you do not speak good Spanish it's likely to be difficult even if you can find a job.

While I agree with the reliable Brother Archer

on all counts, I assert that there is

no measurable standard of living for Nigerians

in Peru, but rather the standard that you set

for yourself.

Whether you decide to stay in a 150 US

per night hotel with swimming pool in

Miraflores, Lima .. or a five-dollars-a-night

shared room in a mountainside hostel

five kilometers from Lake Titicaca,

you will surely experience culture

shock compared to Dubai.
