How to find an apartment in Aripiqua

Hi All,

Dh and I are seriously considering a move to South America in about a year. I'm searching high and low for a central resource that shows apartments/houses for rent by the month. I keep hitting airbnb, etc. Is there a kind of "craigslist" available? Our rental budget is 1000. US.

Do you mean, Arequipa? You can try Locanto, which is like Craigslist, allowing free ads by individuals (as well as agencies and companies) for all sorts of things. It is available in many cities and countries (for instance just type "locanto bogota" to get the page for Bogotá, Colombia):

Look under "Inmobiliaria" and then click on "Departamentos en alquiler" for apartments, "Alquiler de habitaciones" for rooms, and "Casas en alquiler" for houses - as you can see there just is not a lot to choose from. Perú is a poor country and even though Arequipa has about 1.2 million inhabitants, the level of economic activity is much lower than in developed countries.

Another site that does not seem to be as good as Locanto, is doplim. Here are their pages for properties available in Arequipa:
