Live Jazz around Lima

I'm a New Orleans native and always looking for good food and live music - preferably somewhere within the jazz genre. Any suggestions? I have stumbled on some musicians playing in an art gallery in Barranco which was pretty cool.

Hi Priscilla, Barranco is a relatively safe place to live with many bars offering live music.  The food is good and Barranco offers many places to eat.  I like the small restaurants, of which there are many, and the food is usually excellent.  Barranco is a good place to stay for many reasons, close to mass transportation, close to Miraflories land the coast which is a beautiful place to walk.  If you like Starbucks there are somewhere between 7 and 10 of them within walking distance.  Unfortunately the rent in Peru has gone up significantly over the past few years so it is not as affordable as it once was.  All in all Barranco is one of the better places to live because of all it has to offer.
