Is Paraquay a viable option for a middle age Basketball Coach?

I'm curious to know why you are thinking of Paraguay first?

Honestly, I don't think it will be the easiest of places for you if you are without money, don't speak Spanish, and don't have friends there.

That said -- there are many places in the world you could move to try something new and be happy and successful. What do you really want to do?

I agree whole heartedly with the first responsder and would tell you that (in my opinion) you have very little to no chance of success immigrating to Paraguay under the conditions you laid out. 

The conditions, in descending order of criticality are that you are without the fiscal resouces to sustain yourself, you don't mention any skill sets you possess that aren't either filled by locals or that are in demand in Paraguay, and you don't speak Spanish. 

Paraguay has a pretty challenging job market for locals and foreigners alike.  Most foreigners moving here are retiree's or the idle rich who don't have to find a way to sustain themselves.  Those that do work that I either know or have heard of either have something arranged for prior to arrival or have the  resources (skills, money, connections) to rely on upon their arrival.  Maybe if your health care background is very specialized  and can't be duplicated easily here you could capitalize on that.  But someone with knowledge of local health care resources would have to advise you on that.  And I just assume that a basketball background wouldn't get you anywhere, but I may be wrong?  Lack of Spanish is a big problem in a country where English is not used much outside of the capital of Asuncion and even there can be difficult to find folks who understand it much.  Of course you could remedy this via pre-study and the full immersion that would come in moving here.  If you had family or friends in Paraguay that would help you out initially, but without that and taking into account the conditions you mentioned I think you'd have a serious challenge.
