Healthcare in Chile

Julien

Hi,

how does the healthcare system work in Chile ? Is it efficient ?

What are the main differences between public and private sectors?

Is it recommended to purchase private health insurance in Chile?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience !

Hi Julien.

I have never had tu use Healthcare system in Chile, but my wife is Chilean and she tells me all the time public healthcare is terrible. If I understood correctly in public healthcare the service is poor and you have to pay a fee depending on your income. She had a surgery 8 years ago, and if she had gone to public system she would have had to pay 80% of the cost.

On the other hand she had to provide a blank cheque to have the surgery in the privatevsystem.

Unfortunately I don't have a first person experience to share.

Hi Julen

Public healthcare in Chile is too bad because seventy five percent of population have not accessed to private Healthcare because it is very expensive for the majority of Chilean.

I always use private healthcare that is very good but in my case it is paid by the company that hired me.

Let me know if you have any questions.
