Recommendations for law firms specializing in immigration

Hi everyone,

I'm an Iraqi citizen planning to move to Argentina in the next few years to open a small business and apply for investor residency.

Before committing to this plan, I'd like to have a paid online consultation with an experienced Argentine immigration lawyer, as my nationality may make the process more complex.

Can anyone recommend a reputable lawyer or law firm with experience in investor residency and international clients?

Thank you very much!

Hi! I would recommend Immi Legal; they're very comprehensive and excellent at what they do. A very heartfelt team that gets the work done. I believe they did investment as well.

Need help with immigration or administrative procedures in Argentina?

Hi,

Good call on getting a consultation before committing to the plan. With the Argentina investor residency (residencia temporaria como inversionista), preparation makes the difference, and your nationality does add some steps worth planning for.

Investor residency in Argentina: what to clarify in the consultation

  1. Entry visa: Iraqi citizens need a consular visa to enter Argentina, so a key question is whether to apply through an Argentine consulate abroad or after arriving with the proper visa.
  2. The investment itself: it must be a productive investment (a real business, not just money in a bank account). The minimum amount and how it must be documented are set by the current regulations, so confirm them with your lawyer when you apply, since Argentine immigration rules have changed several times recently.
  3. Lawful origin of funds: you will need to show where the money comes from, with documents that Argentine authorities accept.
  4. Documents from Iraq: birth certificate and criminal record certificate, legalized or apostilled as applicable and translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Start early, because these steps usually take the longest.
  5. Business structure: what type of company to open and how to register it, so that the business also supports the residency application.

How to choose an immigration lawyer in Argentina

Whoever you choose, I would ask three things before paying: whether they have handled investor residency cases (not only rentista or retirement visas), whether they have worked with clients who needed a consular visa, and whether the fee is fixed and in writing, with a clear list of what is included.

Best of luck with your plans!
