I would do an online search for work. Try www.seek.com.au  Get contact details of employment agencies and send in your CV.  Do not expect immediate replies, most will not reply unless they have something to offer.

Depends how how much money you have to live on whilst looking for work. As an Australian it took me 2 months to find a temporary job which lasted 4 weeks and now am hunting again.
