Get a debit card from USA, for non-residents EU citizens without SSN?

Hello there,

How could get a debit/credit card issued in USA for Italian citizens or other EU citizens, without a USA residency, without Social Security Number or any history in USA.

Can get a mail address from a real person in USA.

How could get a Social Security Number in this case?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Since a debit card is tied to a financial institution (bank or brokerage firm) you are required to have a social security number.  Your best bet is to open up a Schwab Global brokerage account as an Italian citizen.  I believe they reimburse debit card transaction fee's all over the world.

That sounds both dodgy in general, and very probably illegal.

Yes, it is possible, but your options depend on whether you can travel to the US or need to do this remotely.

**If you can travel to the US:**

You can open a personal account in-person at major banks (like Bank of America or Chase) without an SSN. You will need your passport, a secondary ID (like an EU driver's license), and a US mailing address (some branches accept mail forwarders, others require proof of address).

**If you need to do it remotely:**

1. **Fintechs:** Platforms like Wise or GrabrFi allow EU residents to open USD accounts and get a debit card without an SSN.

2. **US LLC Route:** If you set up a US LLC, you can get an EIN and open business accounts remotely via Mercury or Relay.
