Need Help/Advice on getting temp or permanent residency

For residente permanente you have to apply at a Mexican consulate in the US.  Then apply with immagracion where you live.  The process is inexpensive and I did it myself despite lacking fluency in Spanish.

Contrary to what you might think normally, already being in Mexico is not an advantage. Those planning on a non tourist visa are required to return to their country where they need to seek a different visa through the Mexican counsel in their state. But because you are now married to a National citizen you should probably discuss the situation with  an immigration office near to you.
I suspect their position might be the same but it won't hurt to talk to them.

You apply online for your 2 year Residente Temporal visa/card under the "Vinculo Familiar" law (family unity) and print out your application form. Take it to your local INM office with your FMM card, Mexican marriage license, latest CFE bill; passport and copies etc..
Here is the INM website with all the instructions to use for your online application and first INM office visit. It is very easy to do and will cost around $9,000 pesos. Get the 2 year one as you need to be on a 2 year Residente Temporal before you can apply for a Residente Permanente visa/card. There is no minimum financial solvency proof needed for either visa/card. They will ask for 3 or 6 months of your bank statements but no minimum balance is required they want to know how you pay your bills. Good Luck.
