Canadian Immigration : Attorney fees. Are there cheaper firms ?

Hi My Name is Dafren, i am in Malawi, just came across expat.com, you Guys are so helpful in sharing information, i have always wanted to traveled to Canada to work,=. i am an I.T. guy... Last week i was searching through the Internet and i came across this website where i filled the Eligibility Questionnaire.

After 24Hrs i received a responce from xxxx he was so impressed with my Experience, he said in the email that based on the information i provided, i appear to be eligible to pursue Canadian permanent residence (PR) through two programs: the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) and Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC). In the email he went on saying, "Both programs use points-based systems, where points are awarded for age, education, work experience, language ability, and other factors. A job offer is not currently required in order to apply under either program.

Now for these Guys to start opening a file for me to start submitting my documents there are series for fees for each stage.... I have heard about fraudsters who pose as real but take peoples money.... i would like to use this website to find much needed information about how to apply for PR ... mainly if anyone in this forum knows this firm "Cxxxx Law Firm" This firms' Attorney Fees is USD 3490 is this normal?
are there any-other firms that are cheaper? please let me know.

One of the objectives of Canadian immigration is to welcome skilled newcomers who will contribute to Canada's growing economy. Skilled workers that settle in Canada on a permanent basis are especially valuable to the Canadian workforce. Why then are the Attorney fees very expensive if they welcome skilled workers?

Hello Daf,

Before you do anything at all, and certainly before you pay one thin dime out to the law firm. You should ask them if they are registered with the ICCRC (Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Commission). If they are then ask them for their registration number and check them through the ICCRC website to see if there are any complaints filed against them.

If they are a law firm and not registered with ICCRC then you should contact the Law Society in the province where they operate and see if they are, in fact, a real law firm and if there are any complaints lodged against them.

Just remember that even reputable consultants or law firms cannot offer you any guarantee at all that you're going to obtain a visa, you still need to satisfy all of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada requirements at any rate. These consultants and law firms DO NOT offer you any kind of money back guarantee should your application be unsuccessful, so be very careful.
