This article tells you all about the immigration programs in Saskatchewan. Discover the different options available and the steps to follow to settle permanently in this Canadian province.

If you want to move to Saskatchewan, you can apply to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). This program allows you to be nominated by the province to the federal government for permanent residency. There are three SINP categories:

  • International Skilled Worker: for skilled workers wishing to live and work in Saskatchewan.
  • Saskatchewan Work Experience: for foreign nationals who are already living and working in Saskatchewan.

Attention:

The Entrepreneur and Farm program, designed for those planning to start a business or buy and manage a farm in Saskatchewan, was permanently closed on March 27, 2025. As a result, no new applications will be accepted.

If you are selected by Saskatchewan, you will receive a nomination certificate that will facilitate your permanent residency application process in Canada. For more information, visit the Canadian immigration service website.

Good to know:

Applicants in the “Occupation In-Demand” and “Express Entry” sub-categories (International Skilled Worker category) of the SINP must now provide proof of funds in compliance with these new rules.

Eligibility criteria for the SINP may change. It is essential to check the official SINP website for the most recent and accurate information, and to verify whether your occupation is eligible and what specific language and financial requirements apply.

Skilled workers in Saskatchewan

If you wish to apply under the skilled workers category, you can do so if you already have a job offer from an employer in Saskatchewan, or if your job is a skilled occupation (NOC "0", "1", "2" or "3") and is not on the list of excluded occupations, or if you are already accepted in the Express Entry category of Canada's immigration services.

Saskatchewan work experience

To apply in this category, you must already live in Saskatchewan with a valid permit. The requirements may vary depending on your profile.

Holders of a valid work permit

You can apply in this sub-category if you have been working in Saskatchewan for at least six months with a valid work permit, and you meet the following conditions:

Canadian graduates

This sub-category is intended for individuals who have obtained a Canadian post-secondary degree from a recognized institution.

Here are the conditions to meet if you obtained your degree in Saskatchewan:

If you obtained your degree outside of Saskatchewan, in addition to the above conditions, you must have studied for at least eight months full-time.

Entrepreneurs

To apply in the entrepreneurs category, you must first express your interest online. If you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, you will then be accepted into a pool of candidates where you will be ranked based on your profile and a points grid. The highest-ranked candidates will be invited to apply in the entrepreneurs category.

A minimum of three years of experience obtained within the last ten years in business management is required. You will also need to prove that you have a minimum amount of 500,000 CAD and make an investment of at least 300,000 CAD in Regina and Saskatoon, or at least 200,000 CAD elsewhere in Saskatchewan. This investment must be at least 1 million Canadian dollars if you will own less than one-third of the business.

If you are invited to apply, you will need to prepare a business plan to demonstrate that your business will create jobs in the region.
