The impact of artificial intelligence on the Türkiye job market

Hello everyone,

Artificial intelligence is driving major changes to the job market in Türkiye : task automation, evolving job roles and rise of new skills. For expats and soon-to-be expats, this transformation may raise some key questions on professional opportunities:

Which sectors in Türkiye are being most affected by AI?

What new professional opportunities might AI create for expats?

Which skills should be highlighted to stand out in the job market?

What AI-related changes have you noticed in your own professional experience in Türkiye?

Share your insights and experience!

Thank you for your contribution.

I do not know on the impact on the job-market, I do not have a job and I do not have to intend to have one (semi-retired). What I do know is that AI helps me quite a bit with informing myself on Turkey as a whole (it helps quite a bit).

I'm seeing evidence of AI being widely used by local Turkish-owned businesses to create marketing materials in English. A Turkish friend of mine has also used it to rework the English translation of his book. As that's a project requiring details, nuance and high accuracy he's still having it edited by a native English speaker but the marketing materials, being lower stakes, are going out as they are. I can see less need for translators as AI gets better and better at this sort of thing.

A word of warning about asking AI for advice about life in Turkey - it can make serious mistakes! I've used its guidance on certain concrete processes and it's thrown me way off. It might be because it relies on info published online for sources and often you can't get official guidance for some processes online so it can only tap into amateur or out of date advice.
