Finally decided to NOT Listen :-)

2years ago, I was offered a job in Jeddah. I signed a contract & while waiting for my Visa, I found this blog. I then asked about the life in KSA and lets just say I was told NOT TO COME.. I didn't.. Took a job in New York and it was the most oppressive & disempowerinf job I've ever had in my life.
I regretted listening to people on this blog, I was oppressed in a free country. Kinda ironic😂
Long story short.....
I landed in Riyadh last Saturday & let's just say, I wish I had not listened to anyone who told me not to come to KSA.
I have an amazing job with great employers and I'm looking forward to participating in activities in Riyadh.. So to anyone looking to travel, take people's advice with a grain of salt but ultimately follow your instincts.

I'm glad you posted  about your experience, but I'm sorry that it happened to you. This is why I can't stand the people that post vile things about saudi - (when most of it isn't true) because in the end it can really affect someone's life. There is no country on this planet perfect - this isn't paradise, but this country has great things about it, the people in reality are my fave here and I encourage you to meet some locals. there are some things I cant stand -  but ya take the good with the bad. Most western expats on here are a bunch of whiners- i'm sorry to say.

I wish you the best.

peace
Thank u for the word of wise Abby

If false information is posted, hit the report button and it will be removed.

I will definitely try my best to immerse in Local Culture. I'm looking at taking Arabic lessons as well. I want to apply myself to this experience & not complain about how this is not like "home"... I want to be happy and to create life long memories.
Alhimdulillah, it is so nice to hear about good experiences! I will be moving there next summer inshaAllah and look forward to all KSA has to offer.
I won't say living her is bad, and I don't recommend it. No I won't say that at all!
the living cost here is cheaper, but you need some energy to cope with the society.

Good luck with your new job! : )
Hey good luck!
Good for you, and always go with your gut feeling.
