Base Salary/Allowances/Total Salary

GuestPoster037

Hi Guys,

I have an offer from Qatar with salary package like this:
Total Salary = Base Salary + Allowances.
Questions are:

1. Why they brake salary package in a such way
2. Can employee spend the allowances  in his own way? Does actually Total Salary paid to employee's account?

Regards!

Hi Igr,
Its a standard practice around the world to provide break-up of monthly salary. It gets tricky sometimes...
Some employers subtly include the 'cash allowance' clause in case of House Rent Allowance (HRA). That means they will refund the exact amount you spend on accommodation.
For example, if they mention HRA cash allowance of 6000 QAR and you opt for a 4000 QAR flat, you will be paid only 4000 QAR & not 6000 'cash'.
Other allowances (transport, food, etc.) are usually paid fully to you. Get things clarified verbally with your employer (everything that's written in contract) before accepting any offer.
Best.
