Dear Priscilla,

Oman is one of the best countries in the Arabian Gulf to work. However, it is a little difficult to get a work permit for ladies except for some specific categories. Teaching is one such special category, and I teach in a private college which comes under the Ministry of Higher Education. My wife also works here (Muscat) in an Italian Engineering company.

You can straight away apply to the colleges / companies if you have a minimum of two years' work experience. There are a lot of vacancies in the educational sector, esp., for English teachers. Native English speakers are in high demand. I'm an Indian and our college has a lot of other nationalities.

Freedom of worship is here, and we have Christian churches and Hindu temples in Muscat. Oman is one of the safest and peaceful countries, and the people are very good. As an Indian, this is my second home.

All jobs have to be applied on line or through the agencies here. I can help anyone out with the addresses of such agencies on request. I will also be pleased to help people in settling down in Muscat if needed.

Dear Dr. Arun,

I'm in Kerala, India, on vacation now and will be back in Muscat only on the first week of Sept.

Surely I will send you the addresses of such agencies recruiting doctors once I reach back. In the mean time, if interested in teaching, please apply directly to Oman Medical College and Nursing College/Institute. You may also apply to Sultan Quaboos University Hospital or Royal Hospital.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am currently in a Government Medical College in India as Assistant Professor post with 2yrs experience and 2yrs of Senior Resident. Any idea how many years required for Assistant Professor post in a Medical College in Muscat?

I'm not sure about this but once you apply and get a response, the college will be able to clarify all your doubts. I think it all depends on the college, esp., if it is a private institution.

I'm a btech graduate and software engineer by profession with 3.5 yrs experience.

Not sure of the salary. It varies in private sector and government.

Ok Thanks. I have heard somewhere around 1500-2000 Oman Rials excluding the Incentives they give, Just to confirm whether it is true or not. Is there any doctor in this group who throw some light into this topic?

Hi Suhana, welcome to the group. Any idea how many years of experience required to work in Private?
I have completed MBBS in 2009
Diploma in Psychiatry in 2012
DNB in Psychiatry in 2014 (cleared exam in July 2015)
Worked as Senior Resident between Aug 2014- Jan 2016
Assistant professor from Jan 2016 to till now
Whether with above experience will I get specialist post in Oman

As I wrote earlier, I am currently a practicing consultant dental surgeon with more than 3 years of experience. I am appearing OMSB / Promatic shortly. I am interested to get a female dentist job in Oman and shift there. Need your help .. If you know any vacancy there. Also help me in getting proper study material for the promatic fr dentists.
