Im not sure how much it is in your currency but a bottle of barbican costs about 0.100 kuwati dinar here in kuwait.

Yeah, I would like to know that as well. Usually it is around 230-250 fils.

Misleading title. Beer needs alcohol to be beer (definition from many sources and some experience). With desperation setting in this kind or title leads me to take (a) flight.

Non-alcoholic drinks sounds much clearer.

I noticed he was asking about non-alcoholic drinks but the "title" said beer prices so I was just playing on that. The "title" not the content.   Anyhow now I had my beers and vodka, no need for bad jokes on oxymoron.

By the way for those flying through Doha, there are some great rums, Angostura 1824 aged 12 year old rum (drink neat as whiskey or ice cubes made of coconut water) and Angostura 1919 aged 8 year old rum (with coconut water) and 10 Cane Rum (for rum punches) available. Almost cried because I could not buy a few bottles on the way back.

Yes, beside Bitters, Angostura makes great rums. Aged rums tend to be great, like Fine Whiskey, but most people do not know about them. Sad but true.

I have not tried much Central American rums.  The few I tasted tended to be a bit sharp sort of like the French Caribbean Rhum, not for drinking neat. I prefer the Trindadian and Guyanese which tends to be smoother and robust. The Jamaicans rums tend to be stronger but with better flavor. Great for rum punches. Living in Jamdown (Jamaica) was .........  Had a great collection in Oman but that has been moved to our house in Thailand with a few bottles less.

When you are out of Kuwait (or become great friends with an Ambassador, diplomatic staff, etc.) try some aged rums.  Thinking of going Qatar for a weekend just to drink a bottle.  I could go on for days on the topic.  Search the web for rum lessons (http://www.rumuniversity.com) its a great topic. 

Generally I do not drink soda or other carbonated or caffineated drinks.

Sorry for the digression but the topic of rums is close to my heart.

@peanutz_bassist: Thanks for the invite however I'm not a big drinker myself but I use to bartend so anything of spirits and beers related intrigues me   Do you guys drink at the US embassy for their Thursday HH? 

@TriniMario: I had no idea it never made it to the US market, I'll definitely try it out when I'm back in the states if I can find it! I'm right there with you mixology use to be a favorite past time of mines and it paid the rent If you prefer Trindadian and Guyanese rums then I'm sure you've definitely had 10 Cane, El Dorado and Zaya! If you get a chance you should try Ron Zacapa and Flor de Cana two of the best rum I've ever come across and trust me I've tried a lot in my line of duty

Yes you can get Angostura 1824 and 1919 in New York. I think you can also get it in Florida.  Distribution is a bit chaotic at times but a friend of mine said she was able to get 1824 in NY. Drop by any Trini roti shop and I am sure someone will know where.

Ron Zacapa does not impress me.  I tried the Zacapa15 but next to the El Dorado 15 does not class. Perhaps because the Zacapa 15 is acutualy a blend it does not have the richness (gold plated rather than solid gold). The Havana Club 15 year old get the blend better. Do you drink neat, with ice or with a mixer? I prefer neat except Wrey and Nephew Overproof White rum. Excellent for fruit cakes. 

Will try the Flor de Cana when outside Kuwait. Nice to a have chat about fine drinking.

I use to work at a cocktail bar and Ron Zacapa was great for making craft cocktails but aside from a quick tasting I've never had a chance to really sit down and enjoy a drink myself. Since it was part of the job to know notes, what it pairs well with and what it would mix well with I've sample LOTS of spirits lol I usually try with all three ways (neat, rock and with mixers) to see what works the best however because it was a cocktail bar it was usually the third option however it was never mix with the typical junk i.e. soda and juices which I think ruins the entire experience.

Anyways try Flor de Cana and let me know what you think! Bartender's choice
