Adding spouse name in Indian passport

snazzy91

Hello forum,

I'm an Indian. My query is I have to get my passport renewed shortly and  while filling the form there's a field for spouse name. My doubt is should I enter my spouse name as I'm married now but wasn't at the time of my old passport. If I do enter do I have to submit a proof of same?  I don't possess any document of my wife as I'm living as a bachelor here and my wife is back in India.
Or better should I skip filing my spouse name?

Addition of spouse name is important if you ever plan to bring her to Bahrain on a dependent visa with you. If not, it can be skipped. Meanwhile,  the spouse addition process isn't too complicated and the only document you will have to present is your marriage certificate. So while you're paying for the new passport,  you might as well make all the needed updation. Make sure to fill the form accordingly.

Thanks for your response. But I don't have the marriage certificate with me here. What should I do now?

I'm not sure but a scanned document might work coz they only ask for a copy of it. Speak to someone in IVS Global (Indian passport office in Bahrain) regarding this to be sure, as they will be the one processing your new passport through the embassy.

You will need original marriage certificate, as mentioned consult with IVS global.
