Can one get a residence permit if he holds a 5 year Multiple entry visa for Bahrain?

Different things. Residence is through work, investment or buying property.

Thanks XTang. If one is not a resident of Bahrain then can he process work visa for Saudi Arabia from Bahrain if he is on a multiple entry visit visa in Bahrain?

As per normal process, no. If you have connections in the Saudi Embassy, then yes.
