Of course.  Irrespective of the duration of job, every expat must have a work permit from the employer they are seeking to work with.  If they don't and an LMRA inspection happens, the employer will be fined and the employee deported.

But I heard that there is some relaxation that if you get a job , you can work without work permit until probation period and if employer wants to confirm you then he needs to apply for work permit. is this true?

Absolutely wrong.  That is the problem with talking to random people - they don't know the exact law and just quote based on hearsay and experience.

LMRA has a work permit that they call a "Temporary work permit" which is for 6 months only.  So the employer has an option to get a worker in on this and if he / she doesn't deliver as per expectations; cancel it and not lose the visa fee for a 2 year normal work permit.

@XTang please in my own case in 2021 I wasn't arrested but recently now i can't renew my Visa the application couldn't go through is showing i have offence under my name i when to lmra to check they told me to check with the court please how can i go about it and how much can be my fine ? Please i will be grateful for your kind response thanks
