ISSUING VISA FOR HOUSE HELPER

Expatt2022

Morning,

Hope you are well.

I am an expat living in Bahrain.

I am looking to apply for a visa for our house helper. She is already in Bahrain and the plan is to transfer her visa from her previous employer (family) to us.

Just wondering about the steps.

I understand that first I need to apply to increase the ceiling, just wondering if the below link is the correct one (I have found more than one link)?

https://www.lmra.gov.bh/en/page/show/492

Then I understand that she has to give her biometrics (if she did not give it already in the past)? And I understand that to give the biometrics I need to book an appointment online?

And then I can finally apply online for her work permit ?

Thanks very much for your kind assistance.

Best Regards

Our nanny is currently in Bahrain and during the online application process it is asking me to select 3 medical centres to be used for doing the medical which I have done, but when submitting the application it's telling me to upload a copy of the medical certificate. I'm super confused by the entire process.

@Expatt2022

Disregard the last 4 lines. Those are from another post that I was reading (did some copy and paste) and forgot to delete. I have tried to edit my initial post but I can't.

Cheers

You have to apply for ceiling increase.  When ceiling is approved, you need to apply for work permit.  When that is approved, you need to take her for enrollment after taking appointment.  After this, there is medical.

I can't see the link but you can apply through LMRA EMS system via an ekey.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to tell you that the link has been validated and is now visible.

@XTang

Thanks very much XTang.

Managed to get an advanced eKey and applied for ceiling increase yesterday. Waiting for the approval.

Ok, so the next step is to apply for her work permit.

Quick question, her current visa will expire tomorrow (Feb 3rd), before I apply, does she needs to be "released" from her previous employer first (they need to cancel her visa) or I can apply as soon as the ceiling request gets approved? Problem is that her previous family already left Bahrain.

Taking her for enrollment, you mean to give the biometrics? I guess that I can book an appointment online?

Same for the medical I suppose, I need to take an appointment online? Do you know which hospitals are LMRA's approved?

Sorry, too many questions, apologies for the headaches.

Thanks your kind assistance. It is very much appreciated.

Also, she already gave the biometrics and took a medical in the past, does she needs to do it again?

Thanks again.

XTang

Her previous visa needs to be cancelled for you to apply.

Enrollment is biometrics.  Appointment online at lmra website and needs to be done again.

Medical again as well.  Can be scheduled or rescheduled via bahrain.bh.

Ok, so I understand that it’s not enough for the visa to expire, her previous employer  needs to cancel it as well?

I will tell her to get in touch with them, problem is that they already left Bahrain, we shall see.

Would it work if the previous employer provides her with the cancellation form and then she goes herself to the LMRA and cancel it?

I know that the cancellation can be done online but I believe that the previous employer has no eKey (they did everything in person when they applied for her visa back in the day).

Meantime can I put an application in (at least that’s also done) until her visa is cancelled or the visa has to be cancelled first?

XTang

She can't cancel it herself.  Employer has to nominate an authorized person on their behalf to do it.   There is an LMRA form that needs to be signed by them.   They should ask any agent who can represent them and proceed with the cancellation.

Hi again XTang, thanks very much again for your reply.

It turned out that her previous employer has an eKey and tried to process the cancellation online with no joy.

He has been told that the the helper needs to do the biometrics (again) before submitting the cancellation request?

Once it is cancelled/released I can finally apply for her visa!?

At least this is what her previous employer has been told today after calling the LMRA.

XTang

Yes

Expatt2022

Thanks.

Did the biometrics and after a few minutes her employer received an (automatic ?) email stating that a medical check up has been booked.

Does she needs to do the medical as well before her previous employer can finally cancel her visa?

XTang

What this sounds like is that the employer issued her visa but never did enrollment and medical for her.   What happens in that case is that while the worker is appearing under the employer re: residence permit, in the EMS system, she is NOT appearing under the employer............the visa application continues to show under progress till enrollment is done.    Now when enrollment is done, the worker starts appearing under the employer and visa can be cancelled.

Expatt2022

You are correct, that’s exactly the situation.

Is the medical part of the enrollment or fingerprints is enough to go ahead and finally cancel her medical?

Otherwise she will end up doing 2 medicals in 10 days or so (one for the visa’s cancellation and one for the new visa).

Probably the quickest way to check is if her current employer can finally cancel her visa online?

Called the LMRA and I did not receive a definite answer.

Expatt2022

Sorry, I meant ….and finally cancel her visa (not medical) in my previous message.

Expatt2022

Update. She is indeed (still) not appearing under the employer. Even with the biometrics done. So I guess that the medical has to be completed as well?!

Expatt2022

Hi again.

We really thought that after doing the biometrics she would have appeared under the employer (in the EMS system) but still she does not and the employer is not able to cancel the visa.

Can it be that the employer cannot cancel the visa online cause it has already expired?

Or she needs to do the medical as well (as part of the enrollment) an then finally the employer can cancel her visa online?

It’s a mess, they never did her biometrics and medical unfortunately.

XTang

The visa has expired?   then it can't be cancelled.  And that is why she is not appearing under the employer.   I suggest to just hire an agent and have him do the process.

Expatt2022

XTang, first of all thanks again for your replies.

We made progress.

Her previous employer hired an agent and her work permit was cancelled a couple of days ago (received the confirmation email) and today her residence permit was cancelled (agent went in person to the Passport and Residency Affairs office.

Now, I have tried to apply for her new domestic work permit through the EMT but the system says MAKE SURE TO COMPLETE YOUR PREVIOUS PERMIT CANCELLATION PROCESS BEFORE APPLYING FOR NEW PERMIT APPLICATION.

Is this is because the permit cancellation request was processed only this morning? Does it take a few days to process it?

Thanks again.
