Driving License

I went back to the medical centre and they said I need to take pictures to Trafico, Trafico doesn't get the picture that they took.
Also no, the size is different; in other countries the passport photo size is 35x45mm, here in Spain for the driving licence they want 26x32mm which means I'd end up cutting the top of my head or my neck... I also just checked, they seem to have the same size for a passport, somebody told me it's different. It's not easy to find all correct information quickly but finally getting there

I do not understand why you are having a problem.   I have lived in Spain many years.    Since the medical centres started taking photos, at least ten years ago,  I have never known of any instance when it has been a problem and I have never been required to produce a photo

I suspect you are failing to communicate. As you say a photo was taken at the medical centre.  Why would they take a photo if it was not for trafico ?

And I don't understand why information I find is conflicting;
My Spanish is bad but I think I explained to them what I meant and the photo they took is on the medical certificate so it may be just for that?

As the form that I got from Trafico lists a photo as one of the requirements, and also here in this thread two people mentioned the problem:

Went up to Traffico , submitted all the paperwork , only problem there was that the passport pictures (of which we had many copies)  we had were the wrong size and had to go to the bus station to have yet more printed!!

My DGT lady made quite a performance about what a favour she was doing me to pick-up the scissors from her desk and trim 2mm off my passport photos! 

So yes, confusing innit? I'll find out today and I'll report it back...

And the final update, as promised. For anyone trying to find all the information and not being able to, like me before...

- yes, they want one photograph; the lady physically glued a picture to a paper form so you do need to bring one! I decided to risk and took the passport photo that I had, the wrong size one; but the lady didn't say a word and just cut it out; she was super lovely shall I say, unlike the previous two that I met there! (Trafico Las Palmas, maybe the mainland Spain is different than GC, here some things seem a little bit backwards)

- yes, you can replace an expired UK driving licence, mine expired over 3 years ago! The previous lady asked me to bring something extra (possibly the entitlement certificate that you print off the DVLA website) but this one didn't ask anything, just took my British licence and the payment of 24€ (plus of course the medical certificate, that was 40€ and that's all the fees). But in case you wonder, you do have to have the green residency card, NIE number is not enough

- I am the most happy about the fact that I can now legally drive a motorbike up to 125cc!! as that's not allowed on the licence from the UK or NZ (they allow only up to 50cc and here with the B licence you can drive an A1 motorbike after 3 years)

From what you say you did not make the application though a medical centre.   Had you done so you not have been in trafico

Confusion though maybe failure in  ‘communication’

I have just got my residency and i am now looking to exchange my driving licence to a spanish one.
can anyone out there let me know how to transfer all the extras off my uk licence onto the spanish one?? (trailers, lorries of all sizes etc..)
