Moving to Spain

Eunice40

Hi everyone. My name is Eunice and I am a single parent. I would like to move to Spain with my two children. Any suggestions on which cities or towns are family friendly, especially for expats. I am overwhelmed by all the good cities you find in a google search. I have never been to Spain but I know this is what I want to do. Your advice will be highly appreciated.

Whoa.  You plan to take your children out of school, away from all that is familiar to them, and move to a country where you've never been to and know nothing about?

How do you acquire long term visa to your whole family?  Do you have any connection in Spain?  What will you do to earn money?  Do you have any special skill or education to compete with the locals for employment?  Do you speak Spanish?  Do your children speak Spanish?  What will you do about health care?  Do you have enough fund to feed, house, and dress your children until you can find a job?  Who will care for the children while you're out looking for employment?

Which cities are friendly to expats is not your priority right now.  You'll need to address all of the issues above (and those are only at the top of my head; there are many more for which expats need to prepare before they can contemplate a move to another country.)

But, to answer your question even though it's probably moot, my stepdaughter, her husband, and two children (all of them American citizens) will move to Valencia next year on Golden Visa.

They've been preparing the children with daily Spanish and Catalan lessons for the last 4 years (the parents speak fluently) so the boys are very comfortable speaking, writing, and reading Spanish.  In addition, they follow Spanish sports and the boys keep up with the curriculum of their potential classes in Valencia.  With that kind of preparation, the children will not falter and the parents will have few things to worry about in their new life.
