Moving money from the USA

Hello

We're getting ready to move a large-ish amount of money (usd)  from our bank in the USA to euros in Spain.  We have both WISE and REVOLUT accounts, as well as a Spanish bank account. Some friends have told us about LUMON.

Does anyone have any advice?

Looking forward to your answers.

Hi. I have used WISE for nearly 10 years without a problem, regularly transferring money.

@simpleenglishadvice

thank you!

Hi seamus

If you already have a Revolut account, you can move funds to any bank in the world using IBAN and or BIC codes which you can find in the Details tab and then International payments from the HOME page.

If you don't see these options, try to upgrade your account.

If you are more specific about what you are trying to accomplish, I am able to direct you specifically.

My practical ranking would be:

For transfers up to $10–20k to a personal IBAN in the EU: Wise.

For smaller amounts, if both sides use Revolut: Revolut.

For larger transfers of $50k+, property purchases, or investment-related payments: OFX, but compare it with your bank first.

For urgent cash pickup: Western Union, but only after checking the final exchange rate.

Also, for larger cross-border transfers, it is worth checking the tax and compliance side before moving money.

If you need an English-speaking tax advisor or relocation expert in Spain, feel free to DM me.

I doubt you need yet another currency exchange option if you already have Wise/Revolut.

I don't know the current rules on property purchase (if that's what the large-ish sum is for), but I transferred direct to the buyer rather than sticking it in my Spanish account first. I have done large transfers with Wise, but usually I prefer to break it up into chunks (20-50k) rather than giving Wise 300k right off the bat.
