Family resident Permit in case of separation/Divorce

Dears,

I am writing to ask about a specific situation as I couldn't find any related info.

I and my wife have been married for 5 years, we lived together in Italy for 4 years and then decided to move to the NL recently because both of us received Job offers. Instead of applying for the orientation year visa or asking the company for sponsorship (work permit), she convinced me to go with her directly and apply for a partner residence permit as it will be faster and easier.

However, things lately are not going very well between us, and we both are almost coming to an agreement that it is better to part ways. Now I am going to collect my residence card next week but I also read that it could be considered invalid in case of ending of the relationship.

The whole situation came at a really bad time, I have just accepted a job offer at my dream company and I don't want to lose this opportunity.

Do I have the right to change the family residence permit to a work permit, or what could I do in order to maintain my residency and work in the NL?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You do have to notify the IND if the circumstances directly related to your residence permit change; this is one of those circumstances.

My advice is to contact the IND and make an appointment where you can examine all of the potential options available to you.
